I went to take pictures in and around the coastal fishing town of Grindavik on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland while I visited there. The weather was incredible; in the course of two hours I saw everything from bright and sunny to stormy and rainy – and at one point there was a rainbow as well that formed out of the remains of a rain cloud.

The combination of a well known landmark in London and very unique circumstances. I photographed the Houses of Parliament as a very dramatic rain cloud was rapidly receding behind the building about half an hour after heavy raining.

I hadn’t been planning to photograph Tower Bridge that afternoon, but that gloomy sort of atmosphere that only London can have made me stop and start capturing images of this landmark. The HMS Belfast is floating on the right side of the frame, the former battleship is a museum today, operated by the Imperial War Museum.

Temple Church in London located between Fleet Street and the River Thames. It was built for and by the Knights Templar as their English headquarters, that is why this place is surrounded by conspiracy theories and speculations. It’s also featured in Dan Brown’s book The Da Vinci Code and is famous for its effigy tombs and for being a round church. Because Temple Church is surrounded by buildings, a distant view is not possible. I placed the camera in the corner at a low angle with the widest available focal length to get this image.

Wembley Stadium located in Wembley, north west London – is the second largest stadium in Europe. I wanted to emphasise its symmetrical structure in this image and I blended six images to increase tonal range and to capture the details of the dramatic sky behind.

I took this photo of the Battersea Power Station on a very gloomy day, which I felt was perfect for this iconic landmark in London. The pouring rain and the dark sky complimented the power station with an atmosphere that was exactly what I had in mind for this location.

The monument of Marble Arch in London captured in twilight with wide lens from a very low angle. It’s located near Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park at the junction of Oxford Street, Park Lane and Edgware Road.

Autumn leaves captured against a foliage backdrop on a misty day.

I used a simple concept here to have the Autumn colored leaves on the left with the foggy trees on the right. It turned out to be a near optical illusion as when the eyes move from the leaves to the right half of the frame, the trees gradually become more and more visible.

Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa in Iceland with wonderfully vibrant blue colour and fantastic scenery all around. The white colour around the edges in the ponds is due to the extremely high degree of salt in the water.

I was walking around Tate Modern on South side of the River Thames when I caught glimpse of St Paul’s Cathedral as it was lit by some late afternoon sun rays and I really liked the way the dome reflected back the beautiful colours through the trees in the foreground.

On a cold morning walk on the Reykjanes peninsula, I found one of the many rock piles scattered all over Iceland commonly referred to as ‘Cairn’. Due to strong wind, rain was pouring straight onto the camera lens and while trying to compose the image I kept my hand closely over the lens hood. As a result, lens condensation occurred on the glass surface and when I pulled my hand away rain immediately started hitting the foggy glass. This foggy and wet scene was therefore captured through a foggy and wet camera lens, which helped to visualise the atmosphere of the place.  

I don’t normally include so many man-made objects in a landscape but I made an exception here. I envisioned this image during the day while taking pictures of the road leading to Grindavik, a fishing town on the Reykjanes peninsula on the south-western coast of Iceland. In the evenings, the light from the town behind the hill hit the clouds that were generally close to the ground to produce a futuristic backdrop and I used long shutter speed to have the moving cars draw a curved line into the silhouette in the foreground.

I found this lone rock while hiking on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland. I used the rugged mountain wall as a backdrop to emphasise how small the rock (which was actually taller than I am) was in its surrounding.

This plant with its vibrant yellow leaves was the only thing in a massive area on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland to convey autumn colours. It stood out from a distance on an otherwise very bleak landscape.

There is no shortage of interesting plants living on the soft volcanic ground surface on the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland. This white plant reminded me of seaweed in spite of living quite far from the sea.

I waited for just about two years for the right circumstances to capture this tree in Brockwell Park in London. I hope that this cold and misty Autumn afternoon did justice to  its greatness. 

I captured this image in a small forest in Suffolk, England as warm sunligh hit some tree banches and missed others. It’s a great example of the surprising and beautiful display light is capable of in woodland areas.

The beautiful spring-flowering bluebells have great visual appeal to most photographers. I also fall victim to the blue duvet if I get the chance to photograph them during the two weeks of spring when they can be found in various places of woodland. This image was captured as warm sunlight found its way through the side foliage of this small forest in Suffolk, England.

Herne Bay Pier was built in Herne Bay, Kent on the South East of England for steamers and was notable for its length of 3,787 feet (1,154 m) until its destruction in a violent storm in 1978. The landing stage still stands today, isolated at sea, relentlessly waiting for the ships that will never arrive. I captured this scene on a day of strong winds with light from the nearly setting sun coming from the west. 

I captured this image from a higher viewpoint aiming at the seagull with the crashing sea waves as the backdrop on a very stormy afternoon. The late afternoon sunrays reflected from the bird floating above the violent sea as I experimented with longer shutter speed to get a more abstract image in accordance with the energy and the atmosphere that surrounded me.

Although I’m not a cloud expert, as a passionate landscape photographer I have some understanding of the sky. I believe what I captured here was a dissolving lenticular cloud that I noticed on the late afternoon sky.

I found this place somewhere in Walberswick Nature Reserve in Suffolk; England, when I decided to wonder off the walking trail. The last light of the day came from behind the forest as I captured this little isolated natural wonder.

Preparing for a photography trip to the coastal village of Blackrock in Ireland, I had been checking the weather forecast for days to choose the right time to go. Relying on the forecast, I was hoping for a spectacular sunrise that didn’t happen and on top of that the tide was also low that morning.  Like so many times with landscape photography, the circumstances were different from what I expected, and yet the image I captured gave me great satisfaction.

This image was taken on a clear summer night in Suffolk county in England in the middle of a field; away from the lights of the city. I used 44 seconds exposure and very light sensitive settings to capture the Milky Way that night. On this occassion, I was lucky enough to have a falling star flying across the Milky Way while the shutter was open, leaving its mark on the photograph.

One of London’s most recognisable landmarks, this is Battersea Power Station. It is a decommissioned coal-fired power station located on the south bank of the River Thames, in Battersea. The image was captured after sunset, with a picturesque sky behind the building.

Emirates Stadium located in the inner-city district of Holloway in London, home to Arsenal Football Club captured in twilight. On the left side of the image, I included the “The Spirit of Highbury” shrine with a picture depicting every player to have played for Arsenal during its 93 year residence at Highbury.

This image was taken about one hour after the sun had set behind the horizon from a distance using long lens. This is the only standpoint in London where it’s possible to take both the towers of Canary Wharf and the Millennium Dome into the same composition.

The iconic landmark, Buckingham Palace in London photographed in the evening with a colourful sunset in the background. This was quite a challange, this exposure was only possible in an interval of approximately 5 minutes. I wanted to capture the colours of the sunset in the background without overexposing the upper parts of the sky, and the light was perfect for a very short period of time.

End of Autumn and beginning of Winter. A red leaf that had just fallen on the freshly fallen snow with a few blades of grass still peeking through showed the transition between the two seasons.

Wet pebbles on the seaside of Walberswick in Suffolk, England. I placed the biggest in the center of the frame as it stood out with the last sunrays of the day still touching its top.

The setting sun captured in Suffolk; England. I wanted to create an otherwordly atmosphere for this image and I did so with the aid of white balance. I shifted the colour temperature to the coldest available point against a very warm scene before my eyes and Cold Sunset is the result.

During an unusually vibrant sunset in Seaford; England, I decided to capture the crashing sea waves complimented by the beautiful light that evening.

This image was taken on a clear summer night in Suffolk county in England in the middle of a field; away from the lights of the city. I used 42 seconds exposure and very light sensitive settings to capture the Milky Way that night. Some areas on the image show a slight hint of the colour red, I believe this is due to a few very thin clouds that picked up the light coming from a village nearby and reflected it back to the camera.

Half an hour long exposure of the night sky. With the camera shutter open for such a long time, the stars leave a trail of light behind as they move along their nightly journey. With this image, the camera also picked up on light coming from a nearby town that is visible coming from the bottom left of the frame.

Playing with shadows and patterns with a little help from the setting sun on the sandy beach of Walberswick in Suffolk; England.

Fast moving clouds with an interesting “brushy” edge were approaching the rising moon and I felt compelled to turn my camera towards the sky to capture this unusual formation.

I wanted to capture the interaction between the pebble and the sea water moving back and forth. I used an exposure of 0.62 sec which was long enough to capture motion without excessively blurring the water.

After a brief shower of rain, the Sun quickly re-appeared creating beautiful combination between sunrays and the water drops that had gatered on this leaf. The image was taken in the village of Wenhaston in Suffolk; England.

I found these tiny flowers in Suffolk; England. The original photo was intentionally underexposed and later adjusted at the post-processing stage to create the glowing effect with the flowers.

I was looking for an intersting scene to photograph when I came across with this piece of dry land in Suffolk; England. The feather was also there so I decided to use it as a foreground interest for this abstract landscape.

I took this picture on a cold Winter morning from a distance using zoom lens in order get a vague and misty outline of this lone tree in Brockwell Park in London.

Admiralty Arch is a large office building in London which incorporates an archway providing road and pedestrian access between The Mall, which extends to the southwest, and Trafalgar Square to the northeast.
I photographed it in the evening and was standing on the middle of the road for almost an hour to make sure I have the perfect timing with the light streaks and the colour tone in the sky.
